The meeting came to order at 4:20 p.m. in the Nollen Conference Room.

The minutes and excerpts from 10/26/05 were approved.

President’s Remarks

The President congratulated the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams which won their Midwest Conference Championship titles and will go on to the NCAA Central Regional meet at Wartburg. He also congratulated the Women’s Soccer team for winning their Conference title and advancing to the NCAA tournament.

He reported that he had received a report from Information Technology Services on the possibilities of housing most of ITS in the Forum assuming the South Lounge and Health Service remains as is. E. Willis urged ITS to make all service areas where students need to go accessible.

Dean’s Remarks

The Dean updated Council on the status of faculty searches.

T. Roberts moved, E. Willis seconded, a position description from the Theatre Department for a one-year term replacement for Ellen Mease who will be teaching in the ACM Program in Florence next year. The motion was approved.

The Dean noted that he will not be present for the next Council meeting. In his stead, he has asked Jon Chenette to represent the Dean’s Office. He will also be in California the following week but will attempt to get back in time for the meeting.

Council Remarks

E. Willis reported further on the efforts to secure a speaking engagement with a well known university scholar to give a Convocation address on identity.

Strategic Planning and Budget Formulation

M. Sortor entered the meeting at 4:45 p.m. to report on and engage the Council in a discussion of the Expanding Knowledge Initiative. She distributed a list of accomplishments of the Interim Advisory Board and presented a broad overview.

The President reviewed budget projections over the period 2007-2011.

The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
