Admission and Financial Aid Committee Meeting
September 11, 2006
Committee members introduced themselves
Jim Sumner provided a summary of the admission cycle just completed and a brief description of the Class of 2010 (based on information available).
Decisions were made as to what topics to address this academic year;
(A) consider the relative merits of becoming an admission test optional college,
(B) try and measure the impact of less merit aid expended to the Class of 2010 (including specifically on new Iowa students),
(C) report on the selectivity of new international students (e.g., percent admitted and yield),
(D) summary of recent Iowa Academic All-Stars activity with the College, and
(E) report on the activity of the Faculty Board on Admission.
The Committee adjourned at 1:10 PM.
Next Meeting: Our agenda will be to hear a report from and to exchange information with the College’s 4 current Posse Foundation Partnership Mentors; professors Queathem & Chenette, Monica Chavez-Silva, and Frank Thomas.
