The Committee opened the academic year with a meeting at noon on Mon., Sept. 24 with introductions all the way around. Three new student members and one new faculty member were welcomed.
A general review of last year's activities was provided.
Several pieces of background information were distributed and discussed, and reference to the Dean's website was made so that Committee members could review a detailed description of this year's entering class and Committee activities for the 2000-2001 year.
Vice President Crady announced that the Fiscal Year 2002 financial aid budget may be overspent. Details will be provided as the year moves along and more is known.
Jim Sumner announced that the discount rate for new students may increase this year; again, details will be provided as they become available.
Dean Swartz announced, in response to a question posed by a Committee member, that the College does not plan to grow much in the near term.
It was agreed that Items 8 and 10 from the Committee's annual report, unfinished business from last year, will be brought forward for this year. Jim Sumner agreed to share this decision with Carol Trosset since these items involve her as the College's Director of Institutional Research.
