2008 CPS Internships

Amelia Freeberg, ('10) is doing an internship with Kansas City Center Urban Agriculture, which is an organization established in 2004 to promote community-based, small-scale, entrepreneurial farming in urban Kansas City.

Paige Greenley ('09)was awarded an internship working with the Grinnell Parks and Recreation Department to develop and implement a butterfly conservation curriculum for the children of the Grinnell community.

Ian Bishop ('10) is working as a summer intern with the Jasper County Conservation Board. This hands-on experience includes environmental education, invasive species control, and trail building.

Dean Porter’s ('10) internship is working with the GALFA (Grinnell Area Local Foods Alliance) which includes assisting with garden care, harvesting, share distribution, promotion of CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and other activities of the local food movement including the community garden and the Grinnell farmers market.

Erica Hougland ('10) is the Youth Conservation Corps intern this summer. The Grinnell Youth Conservation Corps (GYCC) is composed of a crew of high school students that works on conservation projects in Grinnell's parks for 8 weeks during the summer. The crew is led by a Grinnell College student who coordinates the program activities and works alongside the crew.
