Course Description
This course emphasizes learning through action. Through a mixture of reading-based discussion, guest lecture, field trips, and independent research, students explored the issue of local food as it relates to Grinnell’s campus with the intent of presenting their findings and recommendations to campus decision-makers.
In addition to weekly meetings and discussion, each student spent the semester researching one aspect of the relationship between Grinnell College and locally grown food. The centerpiece of this course was a final paper and presentation. The compilation of these final papers is included in our final report. In addition, on May 9th, students gave a powerpoint presentation to campus administrators and over 75 other members of the Grinnell community. Copies of that presentation are included for download below.
