Prairie Rescue Days

Work days to restore prairie are scheduled at various sites across the state in the spring (April) and fall. Local sites that have hosted volunteers over the last few years include the Reichelt Unit of the Stephens State Forest and Rock Creek State Park. Work involves cutting brush, prescribed burning, and/or trail work. Volunteers are asked to wear gloves and bring loppers and hand saws. Visit the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation for a Prairie Rescue Day schedule.
