In May of 2001, the Center planted a prairie demonstration garden
in a boulevard near the front door of its office building.
Planting prairie seedlings directly into the
dead sod.
May 2001
Edging was installed around the garden to create a border.
July 2001
Signs were posted
for plant identification.
June 2002: Note the diversity of species
blooming and the different looks from each angle.
July 2002: A completely different look as
more species start to bloom. Shredded mulch was added around
the edges to help with weed control. Very few weeds were found
growing within the garden, only around the edges.
August 2003
The full prairie effect. Early Sunflower and Obedient Plant
are in full bloom.
