The Center continually seeks ways of connecting
people of all ages to the natural landscape of this region.
One such way is through partnerships with local schools that
create opportunities for kids to learn about prairie and other
native habitats.
Elementary School. Center staff, Biology
faculty, and students have worked together to design a field
trip for Grinnell fourth grade students to learn about prairie,
prairie insects, and population monitoring. The field trip
has become an annual fall event, which takes place at Grinnell
College's 365-acre Conard Environmental Research Area (CERA).
High School. The Center is also working with faculty
at the Grinnell High School in developing a prairie studies
curriculum.
Local schools are encouraged to contact the Center for more
information on developing prairie studies curriculums.
