| Basic
requirements of the course :
*Attendance at every class session; thorough preparation (not just reading, but underlining, taking notes, jotting down responses, questions, etc.); active participation in discussion and other class projects. Since the tutorial relies on discussion, any unexcused absences will have an adverse affect on your final grade. * You will divided into working pairs at the beginning of the course; each will be responsible for presenting readings and/ or leading discussions in class. Later in the course, each pair will also work together on a web project/oral presentation. The working pairs are:
* Bring assignments to class (or deliver to my office or P.O. box) the day they are due. Because comments and evaluation will help you plan your next assignment, late assignments are accepted only in extreme cases. * Final tutorial grades will be based on (approximately): averaged essay grades, slightly weighted toward the later assignments (60%); responsible in-class participation (15%), discussion board contributions; (10%); web project/oral presentation (15%). Individual conferences will be scheduled during the sixth week (to go over writing skills and talk about class participation), and once again during the week of preregistration for spring 2002 courses. Office hours provide additional times to discuss work in the tutorial, and I am always ready and willing to make an appointment if office hours do not fit your schedule. |
