Life Extension

In recent decades, technology has been increasing at an exponential rate. Treatments for various forms of disease, nutrition, and vaccines are just a few of the technologies that have benefited humanity so far. The average human life expectancy has increased drastically with advances in technology. Today, the average human life expectancy in the US is 75 years old (CDC, 2001).

But imagine living twice that, or three times that, or even indefinitely. Technology, while it has improved human health, can still go much further. Currently, there are a number of areas of research than may not only increase human health. There are literally hundreds of technologies aimed at increasing human life span. One such technology involves introducing molecule-sized robots into our bodies (nanotechnology) and another entails the uploading of our neural information onto a computer (uploading). Although many of these anti-aging processes have been criticized, it is important to keep an open mind about them-they include technologies that could allow you to live forever.
