Today's Lecture (8/31):
Summary:

There are two kinds of electrical charge found in nature: positive and negative. These names are justified since a lack of positive charge implies a net negative charge and vice versa.

If two objects each have net charges, q1 and q2, these charges will cause a force between them according to Coulomb's Law.

If the charges are of opposite sign, the force is attractive. (Opposites attract.) The same sign implies the force is repulsive.

Diversion-of-the-week:

Looking for things to do on study breaks? This week's diversion features an extremely baffling on-line ESP experiment by a very puzzling person, Clifford Pickover. Give it a try!
