and a raised central boss which is struck with a thickly-padded beater.
Produces a penetrating middle-register pitch. Pre-modern gamelans
only have a single kempul, while modern gamelans typically
have five (for gamelan sléndro) or six (for gamelan
pélog) hung from a common rack. |
