History 329.01
Spring 2002
On March 15, you should turn in a description of your primary source collection. For this assignment I want you to describe the collection of primary sources that you will be working on and explain how the collection sheds light on the important analytical questions you have identified.
As well as summarizing documents, you need to explain to me how these sources will help you write a research paper. You need to convey to me that you have a clear sense of where you are going with this project. How do these documents relate to important analytical questions you have identified? What important analytical questions do these documents raise?
So, before you write the paper,
make sure that you have clear in your head:
1. The important analytical questions.
2. What the primary sources say.
3. How these documents relate to these questions.
Once you have these issues clear in your head, write a short analytical paper that explains how your primary sources relate to the important questions you have identified.
The title page should provide the title, your name, class, box number and the date. (Title should be centered 1/3 of the way down the page, other information should be in the lower right.) On March 15, turn in one copy of this assignment along with the marked up copy of your topic assignment.
