On a single page, write a description of your proposed research topic that explains why it is an interesting topic. Due Monday, February 11.

I am not interested in the personal reasons you might have for choosing this topic. I am interested in the intellectual reasons you have chosen it. What about the topic interests you? Why is it an intellectually interesting topic? What questions does the topic raise for you?

If you want some help thinking about research questions, I recommend that you look at The Craft of Research (which is on reserve). At this point the most appropriate sections are pp. 35-63, but pp. 1-84 are all useful.

To summarize: Write one or two paragraphs that (1) describe the interesting intellectual questions associated with your topic and (2) summarize your current hypotheses relating to these questions.

Remember to include your name on the sheet you hand in. The paper should be double-spaced with one-inch margins on all sides.
