History 201.01
Spring 2002
On reserve in Burling, you will find a copy of The Craft of Research (Call number PN146 .B6 1995). Read pp. 85-148. Think about your own project in light of these chapters. In terms of The Craft of Research, what would the argument for your paper look like. On a single page, list the elements of your overall argument.
What is your main claim? What sub-claims do you think will be necessary? What evidence do you have to support those sub-claims? Are there any warrants that will need to be made explicit?
To summarize: You should use the same terms that appear in the Craft of Research as you list the different elements of argument so that I can clearly identify them.
This assignment is due April 12. Since you are just providing a list of the elements in your argument, you do not need to provide a title page. When you come to the classroom on April 12, please bring me one copy of this list as well as copies of all the related assignments.
