¡AYE, NICOYA!
HOSPITAL DE LA ANÉXION, NICOYA, GUANACASTE

"A smile is the most effective medicine," my favorite fortune cookie message and the medicine I helped give to Nicoya.

What a wonderful experience I had "working" at the Hospital de la Anéxion in Nicoya, Guanacaste. I could not have imagined such a fun, innovative, intriguing, and memorable learning experience was possible. Never in my life will I leave the people of Nicoya, los Nicoyanos, behind because they are forever in my heart and a part of my soul. These past two months flew by and I learned so much about medicine, surgery, and-even more exciting-about who I am now and who I want to be in the future. The doctors, nurses, and other workers of the hospital were amazingly caring and open to my questions about medicine, culture, language, and anything else that my curious mind could imagine. I thank Nicoya, I thank you here at ICADS, and I thank my school program for contributing to this miraculous experience. Muchisimas gracias.
