Key to Other Symbols and Course Designations

DW This symbol is for a "designated writing course" and indicates a course which students may take that will give them some assistance in developing writing skills. These classes will be limited in enrollment to 15 students each and there will be five papers assigned during the semester.

FLC This symbol designates courses in content areas that require foreign language competency (level as indicated in the course prerequisites).

FLO This symbol designates a course or +2 which offers a "Foreign Language Option." In these courses, the instructor has identified materials in selected languages that will be available upon request to those students wishing to substitute or add course work in a foreign language. Consult the complete listing at the back of this schedule for the specific languages available.

X An "X" in the course identifier indicates that the course should not be entered on the preregistration card. Courses numbered 297, 387, and 397 require approval of an Application for Independent Study. Applications and deadline information are available at the Registrar's Office.

@ This symbol following a course title indicates that additional information about the course can be found after the course listings for the semester in question.

NOTE: The S/D/F deadline (February 12 for Spring 1999) refers to all courses offered, unless otherwise noted. Courses lasting less than a full semester's length must be declared S/D/F by the end of the second day of class. S/D/F forms are available in the Registrar's Office. See Student Handbook under "DROPPING A COURSE."
