Classroom study in supplemented by field trips and two tours of the island, one involving field study of archaeological and religious sites and the other featuring trips to wildlife sanctuaries, sites of pilgrimmage, and tea plantations. Housing is provided in homestays, where each student becomes an active member of a local family for the duration of the program. Eligibility: GPA above 3.0, potential to adjust to and benefit from a radically different socio-cultural environment. Coursework in Asian Studies and Global Development Studies highly recommended.
