ISRAEL:
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
The Hebrew University, the most distinguished institution of higher
learning in Israel, is located in the historic city of Jerusalem
and offers a study-abroad program in English. The program offers
a full range of Judaic, Israel and Middle East Studies in such fields
as political science, international relations, history, religion,
literature, philosophy, and archeology. A variety of courses are
available in gender studies, sociology and psychology as well as
there being a fully accredited pre-med specialization. Opportunities
are available for students to engage in supervised independent studies
and research internships in their major areas of study. Participants
are required to take an eight-week summer or winter "Ulpan," an
intensive Hebrew course, before the beginning of the semester, consisting
of 200 hours of instruction. Participants are offered a full program
of social and cultural activities, including tours around Jerusalem
and Israel, workshops, and volunteer opportunities. Housing is provided
in dormitory accommodation. Eligibility: Minimum GPA of 3.0. Middle
Eastern Studies highly recommended.
