Grinnell College is affiliated with two consortia of similar institutions, and is therefore able to offer you and your family members various educational benefits.
If you are a full-time employee, you and your dependant children are eligible for educational benefits after you have worked at the college for two continuous years.
If you are a part-time employee, you and your dependant children are eligible for educational benefits after you have worked the equivalent of two full-time years. Consult with the Office of Human Resources to determine your eligibility.
By college policy, temporary employees are not eligible for education benefits.
If you resign or are dismissed from the college, your dependant children are no longer eligible for educational benefits.
You are not entitled to credit for prior service if you leave your employment at the college and return at a later time.
If you retire or die after five years of service to the college as a regular full-time or regular part-time employee, taxable educational benefits are available to your dependent children.
You are entitled to four years of tuition assistance per dependant child for undergraduate study only.
If your dependant child is admitted to Grinnell College through the regular admission process, there is no charge for tuition as long as your child is a degree-seeking candidate in good standing. To have tuition remitted, your child will be expected to live on campus during the first four semesters.
Children eligible for tuition remission must apply to the State of Iowa for the Iowa Tuition Grant and the State of Iowa Scholarship, as well as the Basic Educational Opportunity Grant (BEOG.) If your child receives one or more of these grants, the amount of tuition remitted by the college will be reduced proportionally. Consult with the college's Student Financial Aid Office for applications and specific information.
Grinnell participates in a tuition-exchange program for the dependent children of faculty/staff with the institutions in the Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) and the Great Lakes College Association (GLCA.)

Your dependant children are each eligible for a $1,500 tuition cash grant or the full tuition, whichever is less, per year if they attend an accredited school outside the ACM or GLCA. This cash grant is payable by term of enrollment. It is the responsibility of the employee to provide the Office of Human Resources with documentation proving accreditation of the institution.
To receive the $1,500 tuition cash grant, send a written request to the Office of Human Resources stating the child's name and the institution the child is attending prior to the beginning of each term. Payment will be sent to the institution.
If you are a regular employee, your dependant children and your spouse/domestic partner may enroll as special students in a maximum of two regular classes per semester at Grinnell College without cost.
Enrollees must have the approval of the Registrar's Office; that office will verify your employment status with the Office of Human Resources.
Enrollment is based on space availability. Regular Grinnell College students are given priority.
Grinnell College credit is available only if it is not applied toward a degree at the college. Degree-seeking candidates must apply for regular admission through the Office of Admission.
