The meeting came to order at 4:20 p.m. in the Nollen House Conference Room. The minutes and excerpts from the 2/7/01 meeting were approved.
President's Remarks

Dean's Remarks
The Dean updated Council on current faculty searches.
Diversity Proposals
The Dean noted that to date Council has recommended campus interviews for candidates in psychology, sociology, music, and philosophy.
B. Ferguson moved, B. Grey seconded, approval to make an offer in anthropology. There was lengthy discussion of extra-departmental contributions that would be expected of the Anthropology Department as a result of this appointment. The motion carried.
Consortium for a Strong Minority Presence
Council considered proposals for extension of current positions from English and Political Science and for completely new appointments in Philosophy, Religious Studies, Education, and Sociology.
Discussion of the Upcoming Board Meeting
B. Grey led a brief discussion of the agenda for the weekend meeting with the selected members of the Board of Trustees.
