Kotoko is the name coined for the governing body of CBS.
"Kotoko" is the Twi (a language spoken in Ghana) word for porcupine. The Porcupine is also used as a tribal symbol by the Ashantis in Ghana. They chose the porcupine because of its defensive system. Though a small animal, the porcupine is able to ward off the advances of huge predators with the pines on its body.
Kotoko was also a tribal governing body, consisting of three elders of equal status that settled all internal tribal disputes. Moreover, Kotoko is the name of a premier soccer club in Ghana, which has the porcupine as its symbol.
It is because of these reasons that the Founding Members of CBS chose "Kotoko" as the name of its governing body.
